NC Coastal SHRM was founded in May 1997 by Jim Williams, Lloyd Koehler, Glenda Whitehurst, and John Gray. The Chapter received its charter membership from the Society for Human Resource Management on February 18, 1998. NC Coastal SHRM has a membership of Human Resource professionals representing organizations in the eastern part of the state. Although affililiated with SHRM National, the Chapter operates independently to provide a numerous benefits for HR Professionals in Eastern North Carolina. Those benefits include: * Information/benchmarking on HR and Business topics * Employment Postings * Educational Seminars/Professional Growth * Networking * Community and Civic Involvement * Newsletter Individual memberships range in experience from student-level to expert practitioners in the Human Resources field. Membership in SHRM-National (based in Alexandria, Virginia) is separate from NC Coastal SHRM and is highly recommended. SHRM-National is the leading voice of the Human Resource profession, representing interests of more than 100,000 professional and student members from around the world.
