Salary Range: $61,360 - $92,060 (anticipated hiring range $61,360 - $76,731, commensurate with skills and experience)

GUC is searching for a highly motivated HR professional to serve as an HR Business Partner (HRBP) to provide assistance in the management of HR objectives by delivering innovative people solutions for assigned business units.  The HRBP will provide consultative support and program delivery to employees and leaders in all areas of human resources, including but not limited to compensation, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, organizational design, employee engagement, retention, data analysis and records management.  Reporting to the Sr. HR Manager, the HRBP will be responsible for delivering individualized solutions for a diverse set of challenges involving personnel, employee relations, compensation, benefits, recruitment, selection, succession planning, and retention.  The HRBP's ability to interpret and understand business needs and translate those needs into practical solutions while adhering to applicable policy and/or law is essential.  It is also vital that the HRBP can operate at a strategic level with senior leaders, but transition seamlessly into operational mode when working with employees.  The HRBP may also be called upon to serve in the absence of the Sr. HR Manager on occasion.

Minimum Requirements:

·         Bachelor degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field

·         3-5 years relevant HR generalist experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience

·         PHR or SHRM-CP preferred

·         Strong understanding and proven application of applicable laws (i.e. FMLA, ADA, FLSA, affirmative action, etc.)

·         Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

·         Excellent work ethic and high degree of integrity

·         Ability to efficiently and effectively multi-task

·         Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

·         Comfortable leading group meetings and/or training sessions

·         Ability to travel to GUC offices/sites within Greenville area

Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. .

This position is responsible for assisting persons with disabilities gain competitive employment by connecting with community employers in an effort to match and place clients. This position may also guide clients through the application process. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain contact with employers within the local business community that match the capabilities and interests of ECVC clients for placement.

  • Create and present information sessions to area employers to increase awareness.

  • Assist and guide clients through the hiring process to secure employment.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records as required.

  • Maintain productivity and placement data.  

  • Evaluate individual progress, observe behavior, and communicate effectively in written and oral form.

  • Instruct job applicants in presenting a positive image by providing help with resume writing, personal appearance, and interview techniques.

  • Locate barriers of client employment, such as inflexible schedules and transportation problems and work with employers, job coaches, and employment specialists to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.

  • May work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of ECVC by successfully connecting clients with employers.

  • Attend team meetings.

  • Complete notes on client’s placement accomplishments and refer case to job coach or community support specialist for further assistance to ensure retention and career development. 

  • Conducts job analyses to determine if jobs are appropriate for specific individuals or if they can be modified and recommends modifications to the employer.

  • Follow up success including monitoring the stability of the placement and employer satisfaction through regular work site visits.



  • Attend Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, and other networking events in an effort to connect with a wide variety of employers

  • Cold calls and visits to employers




  • Critical Thinking and Reasoning- Apply principles of rational systems to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal situations. Regular substantive decisions.  Job content is determined by the incumbent within the bounds of general job objectives.

  • Communication- Ability to understand verbal work orders and instructions; Write straightforward material such as progress reports, procedures, or nonstandard letters. Read and understand material such as very specialized and technical manuals, laws and regulations, etc. Strong and effective presentation and sales skills. Public contact requires normal courtesy, giving/receiving and explaining information, handling complaints, teaching/training, and interpreting and resolving conflicts.








  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Calculation of percentages, ratios, or averages.

  • Record Keeping- Enter, check, and verify data; copy and file records; track/collect data; compile, summarize, simple computation/complex computation of data; research and verify data; required reports for accreditation.

  • Computer Literacy – Basic knowledge of computer and computer programming use; Software used: SIGMUND, SalesForce, Neocertified email and Microsoft office (Word, Excel). 


Physical Demands

  • Light work with lifting and/or moving objects up 10-20 lbs. occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; walking or standing most of the time.

  • Ability to hear and speak.

  • Good visual acuity including depth perception, color discrimination, and peripheral vision.

  • Repetitive use of hands/arms.


Work Environment

  • Frequent interruptions.

  • May handle difficult clients/customers.

  • Frequent travel between site locations and locations around town– normal driving hazards.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate degree required.

  • 1-2 years of related experience required. 


Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
