Plant Human Resources Manager - Kinston, NC

• Supports a group of 250+. • Provide functional/operational human resources guidance through planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the Human Resources Department in support of the assigned client group. • Serve as functional resource for employee base, ensuring their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and regulations. • Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate. • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of client group in relation to established goals. • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvement. • Plan, organize, and manage all activities of the HR Dept. • Participate in the development and implementation of client group's goals, objectives and systems. • Manage recruitment effort for all exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees; monitor recruitment program; employee relations counseling; performance planning. • Manage/maintain records related to same. • Manage and maintain department records and reports. • Actively participate in client group and HR projects and meetings. • Manages 1 direct report. • Will manage vendor relationships. 

QUALIFICATIONS: • BA/BS degree preferred in Human Resources or related area. • 5-7 years of experience as HR Generalist. • Industry/manufacturing knowledge. • Union avoidance experience preferred • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, local employment/labor laws and regulations. • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels within org. • Proficient in MS Office and Lotus Notes. • SAP experience highly desirable.

This position is responsible for keeping building and grounds in a clean and orderly condition. Perform duties such as cleaning floors, glass, and removing trash/recycled material. 

Hours: Mon – Fri; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. County Buildings

Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

  • Carry bathroom items and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.

  • Services, cleans, and replenishes supply in restrooms.

  • Gathers and empty trash or recyclable materials.

  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.

  • Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and cloths.

  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming them

Position Requirements:

Background check must be favorable to work in a multiple office buildings. Dependable transportation and excellent attendance is a must.

Full-Time Material Handler/Forklift Operator 

East Carolina Vocational Center, Inc.


This position is responsible for pulling cardboard, trash and anything that goes up the belt.  For feeding the belt with the forklift and, with the forklift, moving recycling bins. The opening is for the day shift (8:00am – 4:30pm). 


Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities are: 

  • Move controls to drive a forklift to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas. 

  • Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts and lift beams to load, unload, transport, and stack material.

  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.

  • Differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable materials.


Work Environment

  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions (hot in the summer; cold in the winter) 

  • Work around moving machinery and equipment

  • Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, oil, fumes

  • Frequent Interruptions


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • 3-6 months related work experience with a minimum of 3 months working in an industrial setting is preferred.

  • Need to pass in-house forklift certification within the first 30 days of hire.
